What:  Continuing Education Credit from Idaho State University for a 16 hour class to be conducted at the 2007 Sun Valley Swing’n’Dixie Jazz Jamboree (one semester credit, Music 498P-undergraduate, 598P-graduate)

Subject Matter:  What is Jazz?  Swing and Big Band Music, Elements of Jazz,Vocal Clinic,

                         Jazz Choirs in Performance, Introduction to the Jazz Greats, Improvisation,    
                         Anthropology of Jazz, Roots of Jazz: Syncopation

 

 

Instructors: Mike Vax (international artist for Getzen Musical Instruments)

 

 

                        Dave Ruffner (Blue Street leader, high school music instructor)

                        Jean Kittrell (St. Louis Rivermen Jazz Band leader, Professor                                                                     Emerita of Literature, Southern Illinois University)

 

                        Sherri Colby (Doctorate of Anthropology, jazz vocalist)

                       

 Cost:  $175 (includes admission to All Events at the Jamboree, Oct. 17-21, 2007.)
